The gazette was published since earliest days. Prior
to the establishment of government press, the important government orders, etc.
were conveyed to the public through word of mouth by tom-tom from street to street.
Handwritten bills were also pasted on the doors of the fort in different languages.
The Bihar Secretariat Printing Press, Gulzarbagh works under the
Finance Department, Government of Bihar, Patna. The Bihar Secretariat
Printing Press was established in the year 1912 by the British rulers, when Shillong
Press was transferred from Bengal Presidency to Bihar at the time of partition. This Printing
press publishes
the gazette and meets the
printing needs of Bihar Assembly, Election, High Court, Bihar Public Service Commission, local bodies, public sector undertakings and all the departments functioning under the Bihar Government.
